Science VS God’s work???
I was once chatting in a mIRC chartroom with the nick “Ihavenogod” when suddenly this Born Again Christian confronts me…
Evangelical: So what do you believe in? Who do you serve? What is your purpose?
ME: Like my idol Thomas Paine said “"My country is the world, and my religion is to do good."
Evangelical: You’re just saying that.
ME: What made you assume so?
Evangelical: Because you can do what you want coz you have no God to punish you.
ME: So you admit that there’s no God that will punish me?
Evangelical: NO! There is a God. And he will punish all the sinners.
ME: -_- ok…
Evangelical: You and your Science…
ME: What the… what does science got to do with sins?
Evangelical: Coz you think science can explain everything and do anything… but only God can do that. God is so mighty that your science cannot attain!
ME: ok… but let me ask you one thing…
Evangelical: What?
ME: what is science?
Evangelical: You tell me… you’re the atheist.
ME: What? Ok wait, what does science got to do with atheism? Oh never mind…
ME: it is the study of physical world, the study of the physical and natural world and phenomena, especially by using systematic observation and experiment.
Evangelical: So?
ME: It does not claim anything… from its DEFINITION; it’s the STUDY of physical world.
Evangelical: So? I mean why study it if God can just teach everything to you?
ME: I see… well here is my Encyclopedia… where is your God?
Evangelical: Science is just man’s creation. God’s creation is much much greater!
ME: so you still agree that science plays a part in your everyday life?
Evangelical: No way! God IS my everyday life. To hell with your science. Evolution is such a crap.
ME: ok… so you’re saying science is UNNECESSARY in our everyday life?
Evangelical: EXACTLY!!! YES!!
ME: so you don’t need science… and you don’t use it?
Evangelical: Yup! All I need is God!!! And only Him alone!
ME: I see…
Evangelical: so now do you believe me?
ME: Believe what?
Evangelical: that there is a loving and merciful God.
ME: Nope…
Evangelical: but why? You’re too close minded. Why don’t you just accept the truth? Are you too blind to see it? You and your science think you know everything do you? What a pity… You will burn in hell along with your science…
ME: When you where just a baby… the milk you drink, the feeding bottles you used… the sterilized water you drink the vaccine given to you… the vitamins you took… etc. Science.
ME: the vehicles you ride when going to school, the pen, pencil, paper, eraser, and etc. you use. Science.
ME: the telephone, cell phone, that computer your using, fax machines etc. SCIENCE!
ME: The shampoo you use with your hair, soap, whishing machine and ELECTRICYTY. SCIENCE!!!
ME: the keyboard. Electric guitar, amplifier and microphone you use in worshiping your God. SCIENCE!!!
ME: the stove you use when cooking your favorite food… SICENCE!!
ME: INTERNET = SCIENCE!!!
ME: the clothes you’re wearing right now… and the diapers you wore when you’re just a baby… SCIENCE!
ME: The medicine you took when you got sick and the medicine you will take when you get sick. SCIENCE!!
ME: The TV you use to watch your favorite telenovelas, chinovelas, koreanovelas, and telefantasias. SIENCE!!!
ME: The CD Player you use to play your Hillsong CD. SCIENCE!!! And not to mention that CD they used to record hillsong.
ME: THAT HOLLY BIBLE OF YOURS WAS PRINTED BECAUSE OF SCIENCE!!! NOW TELL ME YOU DID NOT USE SICENCE EVEN JUST ONCE IN YOR LIFE!!! WHAT DOES GOD HAVE TO DO WITH ALL OF IT?

Tsk... What a pity... As they feel sad for our "denial" we are as well sad for their unseen wall... Too blind to see, too deaf to hear, to silent to even speak for his own beliefs. All it is for God... All it is for the nothing...
God & Science...hmmm. For everyone's to know i'm a catholic and by that i believe in God. God is powerful for me no question abt that. As for science, let's accept the fact that it help us understand God more... HOW?
Because Science discovers the truth abt the existence of God, particularly the truth abt Jesus lived in this world years ago. the machines, the books, the inks and some other tools used to prove that what is written in the Bible did happen and exist (of course there is some errors or something). Some may comment that I'm a catholic i should know abt the Seven Beatitudes the one that said "Blessed are the one who can't see but believe..." (my favorite beatitude), that i need no proof that God really exist coz i know He does. But science help me understand more abt God and Jesus in our own language, His existence not only written by people who lived by that time but also proven by the people living in our time.
Well... that's for me...
Science never has an answer with regards to the existence of deities.

That's the trouble with Christian fundamentalism. They don't know science, the same as they don't know anything about gods.

God IS my everyday life
.. your everyday life doesn't exist.
I was so irked I didnt even bother to read the rest of it. If there's one thing that Evangelicals share with the rest of their ilk, it's the fact that they're all so one-track minded and they impose the paradigms they hold true unto you.
the question of accountability was never to be entertained in atheism anyway considering the general position of not having an impetus to believe,.

i believe both of you were having a great time. here is my opinion:
science, the study of the physical reality. only to that point. But, as rational beings we are not to base everything from pure observation and physical objection. We are not sure of the existence of a so called divine being. But we are sure of one thing, that the human mind is capable of doing anything. even by fooling itself. creating a so called divine object that rules mankind just to give cause to the mind's ignorance.
i applaud you, dexter. although, i do agree that science is just the creation of mankind. creating 'reason' or the study of 'how' things work. this present western science created by man so he may be able to derive descriptions or assumptions from nature. he created science so he may be able to comprehend. truth was always there, but couldn't be understood. so man made science.
truth is to be 'experienced' in the literal sense. that is why it goes.
science, will always be our vehicle towards giving us a clear picture of the divinity of Man.
